  • Description: (At SO3292 9233).This is possibly a tumulus <1a>
There is nothing at the NGR given by Bird, but at SO3291 9266 there is a bowl barrow, 18m in diameter and 1m high, which undoubtedly refers. OS FI 1973 <1>

Evaluated for MPP in 1990-1, Medium score as one of 93 Bowl Barrows <2>

Scheduled in 1999. Scheduling description: ->

-> The monument includes the earthwork and buried remains of a Bronze Age bowl barrow situated on level ground at the top of a west-facing slope, above a watercourse known as the Camlad. From the top of this rise the ground also slopes gently to the north. There are extensive views of the surrounding countryside from the monument, and to the west the barrow is overlooked by Roveries Hill Camp, an Iron Age hillfort, which is the subject of a separate scheduling. ->

-> The barrow mound is of earth and stone construction. It is about 19m in diameter and survives to a height of 1m. Although no longer visible at ground level, a ditch from which material was quarried during the construction of the barrow, surrounds the mound. This has become infilled over the years but survives as a buried feature approximately 3m wide <3>

Photographed during aerial survey in 2008. <4>

Visited during a condition survey by the English Heritage Field Monument Warden, in 1998. Condition recorded as satisfactory. <5>
